unique mechanics
i can't think of any other comparable game. "unique" is meant in a positive and very literal sense. the race for bonuses and the fight for the best sea creatures and territories ensures plenty of interaction between players, while combining cards at the optimal moment provides considerable depth. the king cards and, above all, the game's bonuses, along with the multitude of territory cards, already offer tremendous variety in the base game. since a very playable solo variant is included and the component quality leaves nothing to be desired, I can wholeheartedly recommend this game.
